I'm looking at purchasing a 2002 ZXR1200R in about a month..I used to own an '81 KZ1000J but sold it 6 yrs ago (and have missed it ever since) thanx for your incites about the bike...helps me make a clear decision on purchase.. enjoyed your site & will write again once I purchase the bike.. Let the Good Times Roll!
You're right Matt, the black ones are faster. Bought my Rex April of last year there was never another contender. Walked into Cycle World and saw 3 Rex's lined up red, green and black, took the obvious choice home. LOVE IT!!! The only problem I've had with it is staying under 100 miles an hour. I just can't help it and neither can Rex.
Used to trailer a 1000 Ninja from KC over to Denver, then head into the Rockies during the summer. Havn't been riding for several years now...thinking of buying a 91 zrx 1200 tomorrow...not sure how it will handle..don't care much about straight line speed...but this bike is growing on me the more I read.... Your thoughts? d
Decisions Decisions ... Well I have the 2002 Kawasaki 1200R (green) and the 2002 Susuki 2300S (blue), and although the Susuki has better manners, the Kawasaki is more of a blast to drive. Interestingly enough, the biker pigs from hell acknowledge the Kawasaki, but only ocassionally give a mild nod to the Susuki. Best Kawasaki site on the net. Best cure for computer addiction: get out and ride!
Comments anyone? Hi Nice site.!! I'm looking seriously at a new ZRX..have read dozens of reports on the bike and it seems to be pretty much what I want (need)... We live pretty close to one another in CO and wondered if we might chat by phone in the near future. I'm a bit older than you, but have a lot of MC experience in the past... pro road racer....dirt tracker etc years ago. My current ride is a "classic" 84 RZ 350 Yamaha which has been worked some and is a blast to ride up in the canyons above Boulder. Am curious does the big ZRX need to be rejetetted for altitude (my RZ needed a bit of fiddling before it really ran right up here) Also, if you wouldn't mind sharing....whadja pay for the big bruiser...out the door here in CO..and was the bike more or less available or did you have to wait eons to get it delivered. I can be contacted at Komondor45@aol.com or 303-748-1472...hope to hear from ya Bernie
Very nice and informative site! Got me this week a 1200 R in b l u e. I hope it will be as fast as the black ones. Best Wishes, Thomas
Why is the Black one faster? Are you serious or just joking because you have the black one??
Nice bike MaTT... I wish this year they had more color options. Silver and Green aren't my favorite colors. Black like yours and Red look sharp, also, the blue looks great. I'm thinking about buying one, possibly this spring. I have owned a couple Kawasaki's, 1980 Kz-550A1.... 1983 GpZ-550 and then I went onto Yamaha's. This bike really caught my eye though.. My very first bike when I was sixteen was the Kawasaki Kz550 so seeing them bring out this model was very pleasing to me. Thanks for the information and sharing your experience with this bike. It makes deciding that much easier. :)
Got a 2002 ZRX1200R in the only true color--Green. Love mine too!
Your right the black ones are faster. I was going throught the web ring and found your site. Keep up the good work.
I have not had a chance to see much of your site yet. I am really responding to your request.
Hey how are you? I have only 1700k in one yr on the rex and still need to break that thing in. I cant wait till spring comes around and I make time to ride at least 500 miles a month and see how it really feels.
I've ridden in Colorado before and it's awesome. Have you ridden in North Georgia and North Carolina? That's some of the best riding in the country! har_poon@bellsouth.net
Nice site. Found you through Colorado blogger group on yahoo. You're kinda cute, too. www.danelle.blogspot.com
Really enjoyed your site! I'm just in the process of buying my own ZRX. Thanks for your site.
What to say about such a bike? It's simply the best match between driveability and power displacement I've ever had. Good looking and enough small size make the rest. Just enjoy the ride!
I am going through the same decision making as you did. ZRX1200R or Suzuki 1200S. I have not gotten into your site and all its details yet but will in a few seconds. Will get into it further tonight. Look forward to all the details. Thanks. Howard
Just traded my old Vulcan 500 in on a new ZRX! Mmmmmmm! :)
ran into your site looking for info on rex. I presently have an '89 Ex 500 that is in pieces in the driveway trying to get put together again... anyway nice site

Hi Matt, I bought my ZRX 1200S August 2001 and have not been disappointed, my wife, the Pillion rider likes it too, we'v just done five Australian states in four weeks and a distance of 11000 km's, the seat is quite comfortable over the long distance, but I do agree with you about the wind factor after full fairings, but being the S mod I do have the half fairing to hide behind, oh and I pull a trailer behind it too, a lot easier on long trips, it handles the Trailer well, in the outback on the trip, a lot of our km's were done at 160kph 100mph to you, at that pace it does like a bit more fuel but is still reasonable. I do all my own servicing and that helps a lot with the budget. Have Fun Mal.
I bought my ZRX1200R 2002 green last May of 2002. I too have a hard time in choosing between Honda 919 and the ZRX. It took me about two weeks before I settled for the ZREX. It's a good bike. Just need a little modification to offset the handle bar vibration and the mirror in which I have done it already. Just broken it in to 500 mi and have it service last saturday. after the service, I've tried it in the freeway for over 4000 rpm and can't hardly stayed on the same speed. Its a powerful Bike. I love it.
Nice site. More pics !!! of ur bike.
You do know that the Red version is the fastest of these cycles. What do you think turned them red ?!?!? The friction from the wind as they were blasting down the road !!! Just like a meteor streaking through the sky !!!! 2002 ZRX1200R ( Red , of course !!! ) Scottr33@aol.com
The Black ones look quie cool - but they never had them over here in the UK. Shame, but I still think green is best !
Nice start of a site... sorry to hear that you went thru so much with your other bike... but WELCOME to the Z-Rex crowd. (resistance is futile!!) Oh, if you get a sec... come check out ZRXOA.com. Oh, and on a personal note... the "green" one is faster! <:O(P) >>>Funk<<<
Just bought a 2002 Kawasaki ZRX1200R and have put 580 miles on it in seven days. Rode it to Annapolis, MD couple of days in a row. Great bike. I sold my 1992 CBR600F2 and love the transition back to traditional motorcycles.
Ummmmmm I know the Red ones are faster !!!! Nice site, have a look at mine http://wsatc.co.uk
Just bought a brand new 2001 Kawi ZRX1200. This bad boy has got some get up and go. I am still breking it in so I don't know what to expect when I can kick it up to 6,000+!!! I can't wait ;-)
I think my green one is fastest too. Soon as it's broke in properly I will let you know. 400 miles to go.
Good job on the site! Nice bike. I guess somebody has to ride the BLACK ones!
Actually...the green one is faster;-)
